As Member of Provincial Parliament Bhutila works to bring the voices of Parkdale–High Park to the legislature. Since she was sworn in Bhutila has been in the house asking the government questions, debating bills, and recognizing the achievements of people in our riding.
As the Official Opposition critic for Mental Health and Addictions Bhutila's has focused on issues like the opioid crisis, children and youth mental health, and ensuring better access to mental health and addictions services to people in rural and northern communities.
Bill 63, Right to Timely Mental Health and Addiction Care for Children and Youth Act, 2019
On November 27th, 2018, Bhutila tabled her bill, the Right to Timely Mental Health and Addictions Care for Children and Youth Act, in the legislature. If passed the bill would cap wait times for children and youth seeking mental health & addiction services at 30 days.
The bill received unanimous support at second reading on February 21st and will now go to committee.
