Ontario Food Terminal Round Table Discussion

Have you heard the Ontario government is reviewing the future of the Ontario Food Terminal?

The Ontario Food Terminal is an important economic hub, providing employment for many people living in our riding.

Furthermore, our local small businesses rely on the Terminal for access to quality, affordable produce at fair prices.

Despite the integral role the Ontario Food Terminal plays in Ontario's food system, and the fact that it doesn't require public money to operate, we've heard the land may be sold to developers for condos.

Moving the Food Terminal will benefit large grocery chains that have their own distribution network, such as Loblaws. It will hurt smaller businesses, like our independent grocers and restaurants—and our neighbours will lose their jobs.

The Minister of Agriculture is asking stakeholders for their thoughts on this review.

I’m hosting a round table discussion to ensure Minister Hardeman hears from Parkdale—High Park workers and small business owners who rely on the Ontario Food Terminal. I will take the feedback I receive at this meeting and hand-deliver a report to the Minister.

Please RSVP here, and feel free to contact my staff if you require additional information or have any questions.
