Recall the legislature immediately to repeal Bill 28

Published on November 7, 2022

QUEEN’S PARK — Interim Ontario NDP Leader Peter Tabuns released the following statement:

“Today is a victory for everyone who fought back against Doug Ford’s attacks on the caring adults who support our kids in the classroom, including the workers across the province who rallied around them.

Ford must immediately recall the legislature to fully repeal Bill 28, return to the bargaining table now, and negotiate a fair deal for education workers.

NDP MPPs are ready to drop everything and rush back to the legislature from their ridings so we can rip up Bill 28 Tuesday. We will be watching closely to make sure Ford brings forward legislation that actually does what he says it will – repeals Bill 28, and doesn’t sneak in other surprises.

Our kids have already paid dearly for Ford’s bullying and doubling down on education cuts, and the NDP will keep up the pressure on the government until we see the investments in schools that are needed."
