TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:
Whereas the Parents Reaching Out (PRO) grants support thousands of school council events across Ontario that engage parents who face barriers to involvement in their child’s education;
Whereas the grants fulfil local priorities identified by parents and the events are facilitated by parent volunteers;
Whereas applicants to the 2018-19 grant program were left in the dark about the status of their applications until it was revealed that the funding had been cut;
Whereas meaningful parent engagement is a vital part of building healthy school communities and fostering student success;
We the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to: Direct the Minister of Education to reverse this cut and immediately restore funding to the Parents Reaching Out grants.
