TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:
WHEREAS ECEs and child care workers are in regular direct contact with young children, many of whom cannot wear masks and do not yet understand physical distancing;
WHEREAS many ECEs’ and child care workers’ workplaces have remained open during provincial shutdowns and school closures, and child care has been an essential service for those who must work outside of the home during the pandemic;
WHEREAS if a child care worker is sick, this can put not only their own health, but the health of other staff, children, and their families at risk, and can disrupt the provision of essential child care services;
WHEREAS due to the aforementioned issues, ECEs and child care workers are working in an inherently high-risk setting;
THEREFORE we the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: Prioritize child care workers and ECEs in the vaccine rollout and vaccinate them immediately
